FW Marsh are an established service provider dedicated to sector growth and are looking to add to their service and installation and commissioning team. The company provide installation, service, maintenance and commissioning solutions to Gas Generator sets and (5MW to 100MW+).

Role: Generator Commissioning Engineer

As a commissioning engineer you will be an expert in your field of electrical generation and supporting systems. Focused on technical excellence of both industrial hardware and software, you will be well versed in all aspects of installation, commissioning and servicing of generators coupled to Gas or Steam Turbine installations globally.

Essential Experience

To be considered suitable for this post you must be a time served Generator Technician with experience in providing installation, maintenance and commissioning services to a number of clients across various industries. We are supporting projects globally and at short notice. Products include Siemens SGT product line and the LM and TM GE packages.

You will be required to provide the following expertise as a lead site technician.

  • Directing and advising local contract personnel in site activities
  • Ensure that highest standards of safe working practice are adhered to at all times
  • Perform /acceptance testing of diesel and gas generators their power management systems and associated sub-systems
  • Interface with and carry out fault diagnosis and fixing of control equipment in the GCP and MGTB and MCC and HV switchgear
  • Carry out product verification in accordance with customer and OEM manuals utilising real-time and recorded data
  • Commissioning of generator protection systems by primary or secondary injection
  • Electrical testing of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) diesel and gas generator sets
  • Train customers in operation and fault diagnosis
  • Interpretation of specifications and technical requirements of assignment brief with representation at customer technical meetings
  • Feedback and utilisation of OEM engineering support networks
  • Complete all paperwork associated with installation and commissioning for assurance of safety and quality compliance
  • Install and commission the neutral and lineside bus cubicles including CT and PT check
  • Check and test the configuration of Beckwith IGPS
  • Check and configure the EX2100 AVR / Brush Prismic
  • Perform phase rotation & megger checks on the generator
  • High pot testing
  • Racking of HV switches
  • Everything needs a comprehensive report

Suitable candidates will;

  • Hold relevant qualifications (Degree/HND/NVQ/City&Guilds – Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Be electrical bias
  • Detailed experience with LV Switchgear and Control Panels
  • Capable of Initial synchronization to grid, maintenance of GE Excitation systems
  • HV Awareness or Appointed Person
  • Knowledge of Siemens and GE Control System
  • PLC/SCADA based power systems
  • HV/LV Power System
  • MS Office
  • Proven Fault Analysis skills
  • CSCS, Site Safety Passport or equivalent
  • Compex qualified

Education:

  • HND/HNC Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Required experience:

  • Engineering: 5 year
  • Commissioning: 2 year
